Michael Lacey is a mathematician that works for the Georgia Institute of Technology. His field of expertise is in pure mathematics and he offers to mentor both doctoral students and pre-doctoral students at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has been with the Georgia Institute since 1996 and contains to be a valuable member of the school’s teaching professors.

Lacey was born in September of 1959 and attended school at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There, he received his Ph.D. Before that, he also attended school at both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Louisiana State University.

While at the University of North Carolina, he became well known for his work with Walter Philipp with their study of the central limit theorem.

Michael Lacey has been recognized for his research and has won awards for his unique approach to the field of mathematics. Some of these include awards from the Simons Foundations as well as the Guggenheim.
